Passion Fruit Ceremony

  • A tradition which takes place in both sessions.
  • Dating back as far as anyone can remember, PassionFruit is a time-honoured tradition where Nevermores, NoMores and Ghosts wake up early and stand in the centre of the quad in a circle on their last ever morning (Friday).
  • The CTYIzens take turns in a reflection on their time spent at CTYI and the rest toast their words by taking a drink of fruitjuice until a full cycle of the circle has been completed.
  • The origin of the name is from CTY in America and originally could be celebrated with real passionfruits which in the past were sold in Spar, but now it is rare we see someone with actual passionfruit at Passionfruit, generally people just have a fruit juice or in some bizarre cases milk, fizzy drinks or energy drinks.
  • This can be a very emotional time for some attendees because it is during the last few hours of their CTYI experience.
