Candlelit Ceremony
From CTYIwiki
Every year, at the end of the third and final disco, the CTYIzens go to the quad where a candlelight ceremony takes place. The words "CTYI" and the year of the course are spelt out in candles and the students gather around them. It is a very sombre occasion because this is the last night that the Nevermores/Ghosts will spend in CTYI. Ever. Usually, music is played on guitar, traditional CTYI songs and anthems.
In Session 1 2009, There was a large shrine built from Snapple bottles in honour of Declan Mulcahy's last year, as he had a long-lasting love for the drink. It included over 100 Snapple bottles which were donated by various CTYIzens. But mostly Declan.

Traditions / Description of Event
- Stand and sit around a shrine in the Quad, usually set up by RAs after the final disco.
- People with guitars bring them outside and sing sad songs.
- People cry, especially nevermores (in 2009 & 2010, this of course included Ghosts).
- It usually lasts for 30 minutes, by which the RAs herd everyone to their rooms.
- American Pie is usually the last song sung, but by then pretty much everybody is an emotional wreck, so you can barely hear the lyrics.
